What was the punishment for people who refused to pay money to Charles I?

For those people that did not want to pay money to Charles I had to face imprisonment as punishment. Most people did not have the guts to refuse paying the forced loan, but a few gentlemen did refuse and they had to face imprisonment for their non-compliance. The Puritans became highly powerful and the political force behind the rise of Charles I. Although after Charles I married the daughter of a catholic there was differences of opinions with the Puritans, and this resulted in Puritans not obeying the order of Charles I.
