The Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905) marked a significant shift in imperial power as Japan became the first Asian nation to defeat a European power, altering perceptions worldwide. The war arose from territorial disputes between Russia and Japan and concluded with Japan's emergence as a major world power through its military successes. This victory also spurred unrest in Russia, contributing to its internal revolution later in 1905.
