Which was the initial strategy of the North?

Assuming you are talking about the civil war..the norths plan was called the anaconda plan because they were going to wrap around the south and strangle it....like a snake! They were going to cut the confederacy in half...capture the capital (Richmond) and blockade all imports and exports of the south. The souths plan was pure defensive strategy...which obviously failed.

The North's initial strategy in the American Civil War was the Anaconda Plan, devised by General Winfield Scott. This plan involved blockading Southern ports, capturing the Mississippi River, and taking control of key locations, including Richmond. The strategy was aimed at defeating the Confederacy with minimal bloodshed by applying economic and military pressure over time.
