Henry Grady supported the industrialization of the South following the South following the South's defeat in the Civil War. Grady worked to reintegrate the South into the Union following the Civil War and believed that development and industrialization would make this possible. Grady was also a strong believer in white supremacy and sought to continue white domination and oppression of African Americans in the South following the Civil War.

Henry Grady aimed to create a 'New South' by promoting industrialization and economic diversification to revitalize the post-Civil War Southern economy. While he envisioned opportunities for growth and development, his ideas were also intertwined with a commitment to white supremacy and the marginalization of African Americans. Thus, Grady's vision highlighted both the potential for progress and the enduring racial issues in the South.
