How did the Civil War "transform" Southern society?

- How was this transformation similar to that which took place in the North?
- How was it different?

In the South, slavery was quite common. But there was also a change in slave policies and industrial policies. All of this was in an attempt to beat the North during the Civil War but they didn't work.

The Civil War transformed Southern society by abolishing slavery, devastating the economy, and altering the existing social structure. While both the North and South experienced increased government power, the South faced unique challenges due to its agrarian nature and reliance on slavery. Socially, the fight for rights and the changes in power dynamics were much different and more contentious in the South compared to the North.
