Adaptation refers to the changes that an organism undergo in order to fit natural surroundings. For instance, in cold weather conditions, polar bears thicken their fur to give them warmth. Adaptation explains the patterns of distribution of plant and animal species in the world in that adaptation is required for survival; a plant or animal that does not adapt to a particular surroundings cannot survive there

Adaptation refers to the biological changes that help organisms survive in their environments. These adaptations explain the distribution of plant and animal species, as those that successfully adapt thrive in their habitats while those that do not may struggle to survive. Examples include polar bears adapting to cold and cacti conserving water in deserts.
