Coastal plains and interior plains are both large, flat land areas, but coastal plains are found near oceans and formed by ocean sediment, while interior plains are located further inland and shaped by ancient rivers and glacial deposits. Both plains may have wetlands, but coastal plains tend to have more dynamic water systems influenced by tides. Overall, their differences highlight the impact of geographical location on the environment and ecosystems.
