Write the equation for the following relation:

\[ E = \{(x, y): (2, 15), (5, 30), (8, 45), \ldots\} \]

Asked by guejil

Answer (2)

y = 5x + 5
If y = mx + c,
m = change in y/change in x
m = 15/3
m = 5 y = 5x + c Using the point (2,15): ****(15)=5(2)+c c = 15-10 c=5
so y = 5x + 5

The equation that represents the relation given by the points is y = 5 x + 5 . This was found by calculating the slope from the points and using the point-slope form of a linear equation. Verification was done using the remaining points to ensure they satisfy the equation.
