You could say that deforestation is a significant effect of modernization. Many ancient forests were completely destroyed before legislature was implemented to protect the environment since people didn't care about the trees. They would use the wood for anything, from papek making to making toys and eating utensils.

Deforestation, both historically and in contemporary times, shows significant effects of modernization on natural environments. Historical deforestation in Europe and modern deforestation in places like the Amazon rainforest illustrate the demand for resources impacting ecosystems. The consequences, including biodiversity loss and climate change, underscore the need for sustainable practices.
