A typical container of orange juice concentrate holds 12 fluid ounces (fl oz). The standard recipe is "Mix one can of concentrate with three cans of cold water."

Olivia has a one-gallon container to fill with orange juice. She uses the standard recipe. How much concentrate does she need? (One gallon = 128 fl oz)

Olivia needs approximately 2 and 2/3 cans of orange juice concentrate to fill her one-gallon container. Each can of concentrate mixes with water to create 48 fl oz of juice. By calculating how many mixes are needed to reach 128 fl oz, we find she requires about 32 fl oz of concentrate, rounded up to 3 cans of concentrate.
