With this one, you can do a method of guess and check. Find a number that's logical, like 70. multiply 70 by 6, which gives you 420. The remainder of the 117 would be non-students,117-70=47. You take that 47 and multiply that by 12, which gives you 564. 564+420=984. So, that probably means we should go down from the 70. Try 65. 65×6=390. 117-65=52. 52×12=624. 624+390=1014. That means we went back too much. Let's try right in the middle, at 67. 67×6=402. 117-67=50. 50×12=600. 600+402=1002! So, with that being said, the answer would be 67!

The number of **students **who went to see the **movie **is 67.
Set up the **equation **based on the information given:
Total number of **people **who went to see the movie : 117
Total **ticket **fees collected: $1002
Assume the number of **students **who went to see the **movie **is x.
Since the **price **for students is half-price, the **ticket **price for students is
$12 / 2 = $6.
The number of **student **tickets sold x multiplied by the student ticket price $6 plus the number of non-student **tickets **sold (117 - x) multiplied by the non-student ticket price $12 should equal the total ticket fees collected $1002:
6x + 12(117 - x) = 1002
6x + 1404 - 12x = 1002
-6x = 1002 - 1404
-6x = -402
x = -402 / -6
x = 67
So, 67 **students **went to see the movie .

The number of students who attended the movie is 67. This was determined by setting up an equation based on total attendance and ticket prices. By solving the equation, we found that 67 students purchased tickets at the discounted price.
