What is the net force if you push a cart to the right with 5 N of force and a friend pushes the cart to the left with 5 N?

Answer (3)

Fnet = 0 If a equal force is applied in both directions the unbalanced force is always 0.

The net force is 0N because if the forces are balanced, the cart would not move, therefore, the answer is 0n.

The net force acting on the cart is 0 N because the forces applied in opposite directions (5 N to the right and 5 N to the left) cancel each other out. This means the cart remains in equilibrium either at rest or moving at constant velocity. Both forces being equal in magnitude leads to no change in motion.
