On the seashore, pebbles that are rough and uneven become smooth and rounded. Explain how they become smooth and rounded.

Pebbles usually become smooth and rounded by being polished by water, sand polished by winds, or by tumbling and exposing other sides to erosive effects.

It happens as a result of the continuous action of water , waves, and other sedimentary particles on the pebbles' surface.
Abrasion is the process through which pebbles on the seashore go from being rough and uneven to becoming smooth and rounded .
Sand, rocks, and other abrasive objects are carried by the waves as they crash against the shore.
The water's force drives these particles against the uneven surfaces as they become wedged between the stones , creating friction that wears away the imperfections.
As the pebbles roll and smash with one another and the surrounding detritus over time, this repeated mechanical erosion progressively smooths and rounds the stones.
Thus, the smoothing and rounding effect becomes more obvious the longer the exposure is to wave motion.

Pebbles on the seashore become smooth and rounded through the abrasion process, which is mainly caused by the action of waves and moving water. This process involves the constant collision and friction between pebbles and other sediment, gradually wearing down rough edges over time. The length of exposure to these conditions influences how smooth and rounded they become.
