If the speedometer on a car indicates a constant speed, can you be sure the car is not accelerating?

No, you cannot be sure.
'Acceleration' is any change in the speed or direction of motion. If the car is driving around a curve and the speedometer indicates a constant speed, it's still accelerating, because its direction is constantly changing as long as it's on the curve.

A constant speed on the speedometer does not imply that the car is not accelerating. Acceleration occurs with changes in either speed or direction. For instance, turning a corner at a constant speed still results in acceleration due to the change in direction.
