after the French and indian war, the colonies were taxed because of the money spent by England.some of these taxes included the stamp act of 1765.the stamp act met great resistance in the colonies. the colonies had no representatives in parliament, and therefore had no influence over what taxes were raised, how they were levied, or how they would be spent . many colonists considered it a violation of their rights as Englishmen to be taxed without their consent-consent that only the colonial legislatures could grant. colonial assemblies sent petitions and protests.the eventually started the American revolution in 1775. then the colonial men did not want to go off to war and leave their families and farms unprotected from ambush by the native americans or others.

The colonists had reservations about the Proclamation of 1763, which prohibited settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains after the French and Indian War. They had fought alongside British troops in the war hoping to claim the newly acquired land for themselves. The restrictions on settlement and the strained relations with Native American tribes led to resentment among the colonists. ;

Colonists were frustrated by the British Proclamation of 1763, which restricted westward settlement beyond the Appalachian Mountains. They felt entitled to land gained after fighting in the French and Indian War, leading to resentment toward British policies that limited their expansion and economic opportunities. This growing discontent contributed to feelings of independence and distrust in British governance.
