In the sequence 145, 300, 610, 1230, each term after the first is formed by multiplying by \( x \) and then adding \( y \), where \( x \) and \( y \) are positive integers. What is the value of \( x + y \)?

Answer (2)

Multiplying by 2 and then adding 10 145 2=290+10=300 300 2=600+10=610 610*2=1220 + 10=1230 x=2 y=10 x+y=12

The values of x and y in the sequence 145, 300, 610, and 1230 are 2 and 10, respectively. Therefore, x + y = 12 .
