If \( x - 3 \) is 4 more than \( w \), then \( x \) is how much more than \( w \)?

Asked by Alba

Answer (3)

Well, what I do is actually substitute in numbers. So what I did was x= 3 and made then did the subtraction. Afterwards I got x = 0. Since x= w+4 you would want to subtract four to get the distance. Afterwards you get 3 (x) is ? than w= - 4 and thats 7 (7 is the answer)

definitely 7 ;

x is 7 more than w based on the relationship given in the problem. We derived this relationship by manipulating the equation x − 3 = w + 4 . Therefore, if you subtract w from x, the result is 7.
