A car rental company sells accident insurance to 24% of its customers. Out of 550 customers, about how many customers are predicted to purchase insurance?

When working with percents, don't divide them, because it will give you the wrong answer. So you must find the equivalent of the percent you're working with in decimal form, then multiply it by your number. So, you would do 550 X .24 which equals 132 customers.

About 132 customers are predicted to purchase insurance from the car rental company based on the 24% purchase rate from 550 total customers. This is calculated by multiplying 550 by 0.24. Thus, 550 x 0.24 equals 132 customers.
