The probability of a particular event is [tex]\frac{3}{8}[/tex]. What is the probability that the event will not happen? Explain.

(Probability of it Happening) + (Probability of it not Happening) = 1 (or 100%)
this makes since because it is for sure either going to happen or not happen. x = probability not happening 3/8 + x = 1 x = 1- 3/8 x = 5/8 (or 62.5%)

The probability that the event will not happen is 8 5 ​ or 62.5%. This is found by subtracting the probability of the event happening 8 3 ​ from 1. Therefore, P ( ∼ A ) = 1 − P ( A ) = 8 5 ​ .
