How many ways are there to arrange five French club members for a yearbook photo if the president and vice president must be seated in front with the other three members behind them?

Answer (2)

Since the president and the vice president must be seated in the front, that's two ways already; p-vp, vp-p.
Three other member, let's say their names are Bill, Joe, and Nate. b-j-n, j-b-n, n-b-j, b-n-j, j-n-b, n-j-b.
6 different combinations.
Multiply 6 by 2, 6 x 2 = 12.
There are 12 different ways.

There are 12 different ways to arrange five French club members for a yearbook photo where the president and vice president sit in front, and the other three members are seated behind them. This is calculated by arranging the president and vice president in 2 ways, and the other three members in 6 ways. Multiplying these arrangements gives us a total of 12 arrangements.
