What changes did the British make in the American colonies?

Asked by sagie

Answer (3)

The British imposed taxes on the American colonies to help pay for the French & Indian War and to help them with their costs in transporting goods from the colonies to England. They also governed the colonies unfairly and tried to extort as many resources as they could for their homeland.

The British made significant changes in the American colonies, including imposing new taxes, restricting trade, maintaining a military presence, and enacting laws that limited colonial governance. These actions led to growing resentment and ultimately contributed to the American Revolution. The colonists felt their rights were being violated, leading to the rallying cry of 'no taxation without representation.'
