The numerous post-war uprisings in which nationalists attempted to overthrow colonial rulers or oppressive regimes in the name of national sovereignty were known as the war of “national liberation”. The oppression of the rulers was going from bad to worse with each passing day. The people were being denied their rights in reference to several factors. People were also levied undue taxes which put a huge amount of pressure on them. To overcome such difficult circumstances people of many countries started revolting against the colonists.
After World War II, nationalist movements aiming for independence from colonial rule were termed "wars of national liberation," fueled by desires for self-determination and responses to colonial exploitation. Following the war, countries in Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean witnessed a surge in independence movements, leading to significant political changes worldwide. Examples include the independence of India in 1947 and the Algerian War of Independence from France (1954-1962).
