Jane needs to miss fewer than \(\frac{1}{6}\) of the words on her spelling list. If there are 18 words, how many can she miss? Explain.

Answer (3)

she would have to miss 1 or 2 because 1/6 of 18 is 3 so less than 3 is 2 or 1
hope that helps!

because she needs to miss less than 1/6 therefore, she has to miss less than 1/6*18 thus, she has to miss less than 3

Jane can miss up to 2 words from her spelling list of 18 words to ensure she misses fewer than 6 1 of the total words. This is because missing exactly 3 would equal 6 1 , so she needs to miss less than that. Therefore, the possible amounts of words she can miss are 0, 1, or 2.
