How do I show the work for 5.4 divided by 39.42?

You have to move the decimal point right the same number of places for each one and divide normally so it would be 540/3942 and it is 0.13698630136986 which is irrational so you have to round to the nearest tenth, hundredth, or thousandth, depending on what the directions say.

what you can do is to write what you type on your calculator. So type in 39.42/5.4=7.3

To divide 5.4 by 39.42, first eliminate the decimals by multiplying both by 100 to get 540 divided by 3942. Performing the division gives approximately 0.137 when rounded to three significant figures.
