Write out the prime factorization and take numbers out in pairs example: 540= 2x3x3x3x5x2 Take out pairs so take out a three pair and a two pair and what left stays under the root symbol and get multiplied together 6(insert square root sign here) 15

To simplify higher roots of whole numbers, break the number into its prime factors and then use the properties of exponents corresponding to the root you are finding. This allows you to pull out whole numbers from under the root and simplify the expression effectively. Finally, verify your results by raising the simplified value back to the original root power.
