How do you solve \((3x - 2y)^2\)?

Asked by rsarth69

Answer (2)

( 3 x − 2 y ) 2 = ( 3 x ) 2 − 2 ⋅ 3 x ⋅ 2 y + ( 2 y ) 2 = 9 x 2 − 12 x y + 4 y 2 ( a − b ) 2 = a 2 − 2 ab + b 2

To solve ( 3 x − 2 y ) 2 , use the binomial square formula ( a − b ) 2 = a 2 − 2 ab + b 2 . After substitution, the result is 9 x 2 − 12 x y + 4 y 2 .
