I can't see that sorry so... eg. 8 - 4/9 8/1 = 8 so 8/1 - 4/9 72/9 - 4/9 = 68/9 So turn the whole number into the number out of 1. Happy to Help!

To subtract a whole number by a fraction, first convert the whole number into a fraction. Then find a common denominator, perform the subtraction, and convert to a mixed number if needed. This process applies to any whole number and fraction subtraction problem.
