Members of the fire department lean a 30-foot ladder against a building. The side of the building is perpendicular to the level ground, so that the base of the ladder is 10 feet away from the base of the building. To the nearest foot, how far up the building does the ladder reach?

Please explain with some details.

The 30-feet ladder reaches approximately 28 feet up the building. This was determined using the Pythagorean theorem, which connects the lengths of the sides in a right triangle ;

Using the Pythagorean theorem, the ladder that is 30 feet long reaches approximately 28 feet up the building. This is calculated by finding the square root of the difference between the square of the hypotenuse and the square of the distance from the building. The calculation shows that the height it reaches is approximately 28 feet, when rounded to the nearest foot.
