Biotic: anything that's alive Abiotic: everything that's non-living

Biotic factors are the living components of ecosystems, such as plants and animals, while abiotic factors are the nonliving elements, like sunlight and water. Both types of factors interact to influence the dynamics of ecosystems. Understanding these interactions is key to studying biology and ecology.
