What fractions are equivalent to [tex] \frac{4}{6} [/tex]?

Would it be [tex] \frac{2}{6} [/tex]?

No it would be 2/3 because the GCF of both of them is 2, so divide both the numerator and denominator by 2 and get 2/3

Fractions equal to 4/6 would be 8/12, or 2/3. Whatever you do to the top of the fraction, you have to do to the denominator. (or the bottom one) You divided the top of your fraction by 2 (and got 2/6) But you forgot to divide the denominator by 2 (to get 2/3.) Make sense?

Equivalent fractions to 6 4 ​ include 3 2 ​ and 12 8 ​ among others. You achieve this by simplifying or multiplying both the numerator and denominator by the same number. The fraction 6 2 ​ is not equivalent to 6 4 ​ .
