Where does the blood pick up oxygen?

Blood flows from the heart to the pulmonary artery. The blood then goes from the artery to the lungs where the hemoglobin (found in red blood cells) picks up the oxygen.

Oxygen enters our body through our lungs. From there, it is carried by lungs and then to the heart. It is from the heart that the oxygenated blood is carried to different parts of the body.

Blood picks up oxygen in the lungs through a process of gas exchange occurring in the alveoli. Deoxygenated blood flows from the heart to the lungs, where it binds oxygen in the capillaries. This oxygenated blood then returns to the heart to be distributed throughout the body.
