Given the speeding fine guidelines, and Rachel's total fine of $103, it can be calculated that she was driving at 68 miles per hour when she received the fine. ;

Let the excess speed limit be y.
According to your question,
25 + 6y = 103
6y = 103 - 25 = 78
y = 78/6 = 13
Thus, the excess speed was 13 mph.
Thus, speed of Rachel = 55 + 13 = 68mph
Thus, Rachel was driving at 68 mph.

Rachel was driving at a speed of 68 mph when she received her speeding ticket. This speed is 13 mph over the posted speed limit of 55 mph. The total fine of $103 is composed of a $25 minimum fine plus an additional $6 for each mph over the limit.
