In a survey, 44% of the people said they voted for Mr. Johnson, while [tex]\frac{2}{5}[/tex] of the people said they voted for Ms. Smith. Which group is larger? Explain.

Since 2/5 is equivalent to 4/10 = 40%, then the group which voted for Mr. Johnson is the larger group since they are 44%.
