Kristine bought a vase that cost $5.99 and roses that cost $1.25 each. The total cost was $20.99. Write and solve the equation to find how many roses Kristine bought.

20.99=5.99+1.25r (r =roses) -5.99 -5.99 15 = 1.25r divide by 1.25 since they multiply to get the r alone 1.25 1.25 12=r so she bought 12 roses (to check if its right just plug in your answer 12 where your r is and you should get 15 ;)
