What was the difference between the Task System and the Gang System?

A. The Gang System assigned slaves specific jobs to finish on a particular day, allowing them time off if completed early; the Task System forced slaves to work all day under the harsh treatment of the Task-Master.
B. The Task System allowed slaves to complete their mandatory work, then have the rest of the day for themselves; the Gang System was based on an overseer closely supervising the slaves, who worked all day.
C. The Task System allowed slaves to work alongside their masters as near-equals on the farm/plantation; the Gang System forced slaves to work only with other slaves (the Gang) in non-agricultural work.
D. The Gang System was a term used to describe the retrieval of a group of fugitive slaves (the Gang); the Task System was a term used to describe the quasi-courts assembled by plantation owners to put recovered fugitive slaves on trial for disloyalty.

The Task System and the Gang System were distinct labor systems in antebellum slavery. The Task System allowed slaves more autonomy and free time upon completing assigned tasks, while the Gang System involved continuous work under strict supervision. Essentially, the key difference is the level of control and freedom given to the slaves within each system. ;
