Arteries don't need valves because the blood that is flowing through them is at a high pressure.

the blood is always flowing through them at high pressures

Arteries do not have valves because they carry blood away from the heart under high pressure, allowing for continuous flow. Their thick muscular walls and elastic structure help prevent backflow, which is necessary in veins that deal with lower pressure. Thus, valves are not required in arteries.
