What is quicksand, and how does it work?

quicksand is formed when regular sand, or mud or gravel comes in contact with a flowing water source, usually an underground stream. The flowing water flows in between the particles of sand and acts as a lubricant to reduce the friction.the sand particles get suspended in water and sand changes into liquefied state.As long as the water flows,the quick sand bed will exist.

Quicksand is a type of non-Newtonian fluid that appears solid until something disturbs it, causing it to become liquid-like. It is often a mixture of sand, water, and clay that forms a loose and unstable material. When pressure is exerted on quicksand, the water in the mixture cannot escape, causing the sand and clay particles to lose their friction and form a liquid-like state.
Quicksand works by trapping objects and people who step on it. When someone stands on quicksand, the sand particles around their feet are disturbed, causing the water to rise and the sand to lose its strength. This makes it very difficult to escape because the more you move, the deeper you sink.
One important thing to note is that quicksand is not as dangerous as it is often portrayed in movies and books. While it can be challenging to get out of, the sinking process is typically slow, and it is possible to float or lie on your back to stay at the surface and call for help.
