The processes that lead to the formation of mountain ranges are collectively known as orogeny. This includes tectonic plate movement, volcanic activity, faulting and folding, and erosion, all contributing to the creation and shaping of mountains. Notably, mountains can form from the collision of continental plates or from volcanic eruptions.
