Martin Luther King Jr was a man who wanted everyone to be free. (Blacks and whites.) He was part of the American Civil Rights Movement, and with his speeches , they helped america see that we should all be free.

He was know to achieve civil rights through peaceful demonstrations. He has a long résumé of accomplishments. Also when talking about him there were many major events that stand out, a few of them were, he was put in Birmingham prison, his involvement in trying to persuade politicians to pass laws that would help their cause such as voting rights for blacks.
