When a plant grows its mass increases over time but no new matter has been created and the particles are moving very fast because of their higher temperature .
What are the properties of matter ?
Matter can be defined as total mass which occupy in space, the physical structures consist of matter, which can be present in three basic states such as solid, liquid, and gaseous state.
The **atoms **are the unit of matter which make up the objects can be visible and touched every day, the physical property of matter is independent of its chemical composition .
Some **physical characteristics **like density, color, mass, volume, length, malleability , melting point, hardness, odor, temperature are the examples of properties of matter.

Plants grow by increasing their mass through photosynthesis and nutrient uptake, but they do not create new matter in this process. Instead, they transform existing matter into new forms. Therefore, the increase in mass is due to the rearrangement of already existing substances rather than new matter creation.
